If you are staying in Vietnam for more than 16 days for sightseeing, or if you have not passed more than 30 days since your last departure, you are required to obtain a visa. Typical types of visas include tourist visas, business visas, work visas, and family visas. The easiest way to get a visa is to get the shortest Vietnam arrival visa when you arrive at the local airport and you will need a letter of invitation . Click here to download and fill out the Vietnam Arrival Visa Application Form . You can also extend or renew your Vietnam visa that you have already obtained, in which case you will need to keep your passport.

Language

会話

Even if you don't speak Vietnamese, you can speak English relatively well at hotels in major cities as well as at chain stores. English is more pervasive than in Japan . Although it is rare, you may be able to speak simple Japanese at a Japanese restaurant. On the other hand, in private stores and taxis, it is almost Vietnamese.

When using a taxi, it is essential to show your destination address.

City transportation

ビナサン・マイリンタクシー
ビナサンタクシー

If you are not within walking distance, please take a taxi. At that time, it is essential to show the destination address.

We recommend two taxi companies, VINASUN TAXI and MAI LINH TAXI. The driver is wearing a uniform. Credit cards cannot be used.

Please be careful about fake taxis. Ignore people who seem to be drivers in plain clothes at airports and say "Taxi, Grab", and check the company name written on the taxi body first before boarding.

Grab TAXI, which can be called by the app, is also relatively safe, but we recommend the above two companies in case you forget something.

In addition, there are moped motorcycle taxi (1 person) and fixed-route bus. The railroad is under construction, but it will take a few more years from the speed of experience.

Credit card

クレジットカード

Credit cards can be used in stores and shopping malls in central Tokyo, but in many cases private stores cannot. In the case of a taxi, there are terminal facilities, but for some reason they cannot be used. I have tried it many times, but I haven't tried it, so I only have cash. When traveling abroad, a credit card is required in case of emergency. We recommend that you bring VISA / JCB that can be used anywhere .

climate

茶葉を収穫

Like Japan, the land is long from north to south, so the climate varies from region to region. Southern regions such as Ho Chi Minh are warm all year round, so summer clothes are fine. (The minimum temperature is about 21 ° C even in winter.) However, the outside is strong with ultraviolet rays and the inside of the store may be too air-conditioned, so women should bring a hat and thin long sleeves. In Ho Chi Minh, November-April is the dry season and May-October is the rainy season. In the dry season, it may not rain for more than a month. In the rainy season, it rarely rains all day long, but it rains hard like a convectional rain. On the other hand, from November to March in the northern regions such as Hanoi (minimum temperature is about 14 ° C), it gets cold, so you need to wear proper clothes.

Security

ベトナム交通警察

It is relatively safe, but be careful of pickpockets in dense areas and snatching on the street. It is safe to keep your bag etc. in front of you. In addition, in the case of snatching on the street, there are cases where the duo on the moped approach from behind and take away the mobile phone or necklace they have in their hands. Keep in mind "Avoid exposing valuables" as a measure that does not become a target, such as not counting money outside.

Currency

Voltage

The voltage in Vietnam is 220V. Japan is 100V. The plug for Japan can be used as it is, but if you use it directly without an adapter, it may break down or catch fire. However, some electrical appliances are compatible with 100V-240V, so be sure to check the compatible voltage indicated on the product.

Can be used: Smartphones, iPhones, PCs, tablets, etc. that come with adapters.

Unusable: TVs, hair dryers, irons, etc. that do not come with an adapter.

What is saigon?

ホーチミン.jpg

Vietnam's capital is Hanoi in the north, but there is an equivalent large city, Ho Chi Minh City, in the south. There are two ways to call Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh and SAIGON. Overseas, it is popularly known as Ho Chi Minh, but the locals call it Saigon. The reason was that during the Vietnam War, northern Hanoi and southern Saigon fought, the northern part led by Ho Chi Minh won, and Saigon was defeated, so the name changed from Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the name Saigon is still nicknamed by the locals.
